Via Domitia 2025 Olive Oil: The Fusion of Art and Haute Cuisine in a Limited Edition

We are pleased to present Via Domitia 2025, a limited edition of our extra virgin olive oil that reflects our constant pursuit of excellence and innovation at Llàgrimes del Canigó. This year, we have created an exceptional coupage that combines our Picual olives grown on the Costa Brava with the introduction of the Lecciana variety, the result of a special collaboration with a century-old estate in Lleida.

An Artistic and Gastronomic Fusion: Aldo Comas and Via Domitia 2025

For this special edition, we have collaborated with Aldo Comas, a local artist deeply in love with olive oil. We didn't just want to use his art on the bottle; we sought to pay homage to haute cuisine with a product that fused art and flavor into a unique experience. Comas's passion for Mediterranean culture and his avant-garde vision are captured in the very essence of this oil, creating an edition that is both a visual pleasure and a delight for the palate.

A Meeting of Flavors: Picual and Lecciana

The Picual variety, grown in our fields in Agullana, is renowned for its robust character and high polyphenol content, which provides stability and a fruity flavor with bitter and spicy notes. Lecciana, on the other hand, is an innovative variety that has gained appreciation for its unique organoleptic characteristics. This oil is characterized by its intense green fruity flavor, with subtle vegetable notes and spicy and bitter nuances that grow and persist on the palate.

The Story of Lecciana

Lecciana is the result of hybridization between the Leccino and Arbequina varieties, aiming to combine the best qualities of both. This variety stands out for its early ripening and its resistance to diseases such as Xylella fastidiosa, making it a sustainable and high-quality option for extra virgin olive oil production.

Collaboration with a Century-Old Estate

For the creation of Via Domitia 2025, we have established a collaboration with an estate in the Lleida area that has more than 100 years of history in olive cultivation. This alliance has allowed us to incorporate the Lecciana variety into our coupage, enriching our oil with new dimensions of flavor and reaffirming our commitment to quality and tradition.

The Artist: Aldo Comas

The excellence of our oil is reflected not only in its quality but also in its presentation. For Via Domitia 2025, we have collaborated with renowned artist Aldo Comas, whose work transcends conventional limits and is characterized by a fusion of color, creativity, and symbolism.

Aldo Comas, known for his vibrant and innovative style, conceived the work "La Palma del Empordà" (200x200cm, 2024) for the label of this limited edition. His art, marked by an intense palette and dynamic forms, captures the essence of the fusion between tradition and innovation that Via Domitia 2025 represents. Inspired by the power of nature and the history of the Costa Brava, his design conveys the vital energy of the Mediterranean and the richness of our land.

This collaboration not only highlights the visual beauty of the product but also reinforces our commitment to art and culture. The special edition of Via Domitia 2025 thus becomes an authentic work of art, both for the palate and for the eye, offering a unique multi-sensory experience.

A Coupage that Charms

The combination of the Picual and Lecciana varieties in Via Domitia 2025 offers a harmonious balance between intensity and smoothness. The herbaceous and fruity notes of Lecciana integrate perfectly with the robust character of Picual, resulting in a complex and balanced oil that delights the senses.
